DeedPollRegister.ie (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our users. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and process your personal data when you visit our website (the “Website”), in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. The Public Register Data
Source of Data
The primary function of this Website is to provide a searchable index of the Deed Poll Register of Ireland. The data presented on this Website—namely former names, new names, addresses (where published), and dates of enrolment—is extracted directly from public records published and maintained by the Central Office of the High Court via the Courts Service of Ireland.
Legal Basis for Processing
Our processing of this data is based on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR) in facilitating public access to public records in a more searchable, accessible format. The data processed relates exclusively to personal data which is manifestly made public by the data subject through the legal mechanism of enrolling a deed poll in the High Court.
2. Data We Collect Directly From You
When you visit or interact with the Website, we may collect:
- Contact Information: If you use our Contact form or email us, we collect your name, email address, and the contents of your message to respond to your inquiry.
- Usage Data & Analytics: We use Matomo Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated data about how visitors use the Website (e.g., pages visited, browser type, device type). This helps us improve the Website's performance and user experience. Under GDPR, we configure Matomo to anonymise IP addresses and respect "Do Not Track" settings where applicable.
3. Data Retention
Deed Poll Register data is retained for as long as it remains on the public record maintained by the Courts Service. Website usage data is retained for a period of up to 26 months. Contact enquiry data is retained for as long as necessary to resolve the enquiry and for a reasonable period thereafter.
4. Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- The right to access your personal data.
- The right to rectification of inaccurate data.
- The right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”), subject to legal exemptions.
- The right to restrict processing.
